How to Prepare for Your First Therapy Session

The video gives step-by-step practical prep: clarify your goals and top concerns, list questions about the therapist’s approach and logistics (fees, confidentiality, session length), and bring brief notes so your first session stays focused. It teaches actionable strategies for managing nerves and setting realistic expectations—what a typical intake covers, how to give feedback about fit, and why you don’t need to resolve everything in one visit—so you can evaluate fit rather than judge success prematurely. Watch it if you want concrete checklists and sample scripts to make the intake process less intimidating and to walk out with clear next steps and a follow-up plan.
